How does the Delhi Police utilize AI to solve intricate murder cases?

In a groundbreaking development, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has once again demonstrated its prowess in solving real-world problems, as the Delhi Police successfully employed AI to unravel a mysterious murder case. The incident unfolded on January 10, 2024, when authorities discovered a severed body beneath the Geeta Colony flyover in East Delhi.

The post-mortem examinations conducted on the victim's remains unveiled that the cause of death was strangulation. Unfortunately, due to the grim condition of the body, traditional methods of identification were rendered futile, posing a significant challenge for investigators.

In a bid to overcome this hurdle, the Delhi Police turned to the cutting-edge capabilities of AI, marking a milestone in the integration of technology with law enforcement. Leveraging advanced algorithms and data analysis, the AI system sifted through vast amounts of information to piece together clues and establish the victim's identity.

This technological breakthrough not only showcases the potential of AI in solving complex criminal cases but also highlights its invaluable role in enhancing the efficiency of law enforcement agencies. As society witnesses more instances where AI transcends conventional boundaries, the scope of its applications continues to expand, ushering in a new era of possibilities and advancements. The successful implementation of AI in this murder investigation underscores its ability to tackle challenges that seemed insurmountable, leaving people in awe of the remarkable feats AI can accomplish.

How did AI help the Delhi Police?

In a breakthrough move, the Delhi Police decided to use the power of Artificial Intelligence to crack a challenging case. The main issue at hand was the difficulty in identifying a body that was severely disfigured, making it impossible to recognize. To tackle this problem, the police turned to AI to digitally reconstruct the victim's face.

With the help of AI technology, the Delhi Police reconstructed the face of the victim in a digital format. They even went a step further by altering the background of the image to resemble the Yamuna area. This digital reconstruction became a crucial tool for the police in their investigation.

The police acted quickly on the information they got and found out that Hitendra was in a fight with three other guys, and it ended up with him getting killed. These three guys got a woman to help them hide any proof. Later, the police caught all four of them.

AI can be really helpful, like a sidekick to a detective. But sometimes, people use it the wrong way, like tricking others or making fake videos. It's a shame when it's not used for good things.

The next step involved creating 500 posters featuring the digitally reconstructed face of the victim. These posters were strategically placed across Delhi and shared on social media platforms such as WhatsApp. The goal was to reach a wider audience and gather information that could lead to the identification of the victim.

The breakthrough came when a man, after seeing one of the posters outside a police station, stepped forward and positively identified the victim as his elder brother, Hitendra. This successful use of AI and widespread dissemination of the reconstructed image played a pivotal role in solving the case, highlighting the innovative ways in which technology can aid law enforcement in solving complex cases.
